As a result of legislative approval of the SEBAC Agreement and corresponding bargaining unit contracts, unionized state employees must take three furlough days during this fiscal year.

Department staff responsible for processing educator certificates, authorizations and permits, will be observing their bargaining unitís furlough day on Friday, November 24, 2017. As a result, the certification staff will NOT be available for telephone support on Friday, November 24.

Please note that the customer service desk, located on the street level at 450 Columbus Boulevard in Hartford, will also be CLOSED on Friday, November 24.

About Connecticut Educator Certification

Our goal is to determine the simplest path to certification so you can serve Connecticut students in your chosen area. In this role, we process over 26,000 applications each year. Last year we issued over 35,000 certificates and permits.

The online Connecticut Educator Certification System (C.E.C.S.) allows you to check the status or print unofficial copies of your certificates and permits, apply and pay fees online, and get up-to-the-minute information about your application(s).

For general information about requirements or the application process, you may call us at 860-713-6969 from noon to 4 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays. The best time to call is generally Tuesday and Friday afternoons after 2 pm.
