Every student needs and deserves a rich and rigorous mathematics curriculum that is focused on the development of concepts, the acquisition of basic and advanced skills and the integration of problem solving experiences. The Awards recognize outstanding teachers for their contributions in the classroom and to their profession and are conferred by the President of the United States of America. The 2010 Awards will honor Math and Science teachers working in grades K-6. (Save your enthusiasm for teachers of grades 7-12 for the 2011 Awards). Nominations for highly qualified teachers who have at least 5 years of mathematics or science teaching experience at Grades K-6 in a public or private school are now being accepted. The deadline for nominations is April 1, 2010.
