SDE: School Nutrition Information

School Nutrition Information

The State Department of Education (SDE) supports nutrition programs in a wide variety of settings through the administration of federal grants provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Funds and regulations related to these programs are administered in collaboration with the Northeast Regional Office of the USDA in Boston. Eligible institutions enter into written agreements with SDE to operate local programs which provide for the nutritional needs of those in their care.

Area Eligible and Non-Area Eligible School Listings
  • Area Eligible Schools [PDF]- This list represents schools that have 50% or more of the children eligible for free and reduced price meals. Percentages are calculated annually by Child Nutrition Programs and are based on October data from the previous school year. As Area Eligible schools, these sites are also used in determining if other sites (located in the attendance area of an Area Eligible School) are eligible to participate in the Summer Food Service Program, Seamless Summer Food Program and the After School Snack Program.
  • Non-Area Eligible Schools [PDF]- This list represents schools that are area eligible (they have 50% or more of the children eligible for free and reduced price meals); however, they can not be used in determining if other sites participate as area eligible sites under the Summer Food Service Program, Seamless Summer Food Program and the After School Snack Program. As with Area Eligible Schools, percentages are calculated annually by the Child Nutrition Programs and are based on October data from the previous school year.
