After school programs provide academic enrichment (such as hands-on science or technology programs) and activities to support student learning and development. Located in schools and community-based organizations, they provide services such as tutoring and mentoring, homework help, community service opportunities, as well as music, arts, sports and cultural activities. Programs also help working parents by providing a safe environment for students. |
Purpose: To implement or expand high-quality programs outside school hours that offer students academic/educational enrichment and recreational activities in grades K-12 that are designed to reinforce and complement the regular academic program of participating students.
