My name is Mark K. McQuillan. As Commissioner and Secretary to the State Board of Education, I hope you will find our website easy to use and of immediate value, for whatever questions you may have. The mission of the Connecticut State Board of Education is to provide leadership that promotes an educational system which supports all learners in reaching their full potential.  Our website, accordingly, is designed for all users -- teachers, parents, students, administrators, and legislators -- anyone, in short, interested in learning how public education is delivered throughout the state. When reviewing our website, I urge you to become familiar with our organizational structure and the key people, divisions, bureaus and offices that provide services to our schools and the public.  It is this structure that informs our site map, directory, points of entry, and links to key people who can best assist you. This structure also supports how the Department of Education plans to implement the Board’s Five-Year Plan, guided by these three priorities:
High-quality Preschool Education for All Students High Academic Achievement of All Students in Reading, Writing, Math & Science High School Reform We consider these priorities to be at the heart of what the Department strives to accomplish as a public agency. I hope you will look upon them as the standards by which to evaluate our effectiveness in promoting high achievement for all students in our state.
