The Connecticut State Department of Educationís Nutrition Policies and Guidance for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) consists of six guides that assist child care centers, family day care homes, emergency shelters, and at-risk afterschool care centers with planning meals to meet the CACFP requirements. These guides include comprehensive information on the CACFP meal pattern requirements, avoiding common menu problems, nutrition guidance, feeding infants, and accommodating children with special dietary needs. They can be accessed on the webpages below, which also include related forms, handouts, operational memoranda, and other resources. CACFP child care programs should use Nutrition Policies and Guidance as the definitive source for information on complying with all federal and state nutrition requirements for the CACFP.
